Sea

Ferry companies.Elba can be reached by car by embarking in Piombino Marittima, where several ferry companies offer comfortable ferry services and numerous daily crossings. It takes an hour to cross the approximately 10 kilometres between the mainland and the island and the ports of Portoferraio, Cavo and Rio Marina. There is also a 20 minute hydrofoil crossing, for foot passengers only, to Cavo and the service then continues to Portoferraio, arriving 15 minutes later.

Road

Arriving from the North:A12 Genova-Livorno motorway, exit at Rosignano. Continue on the “SS Aurelia” to Venturina – Isola d’Elba, following the signs to the port at Piombino Marittima.

Arriving from the North-East:A1 Bologna-Florence-Pisa-Livorno motorway, exit at Rosignano. Continue on the “SS Aurelia” to Venturina – Isola d’Elba, following the signs to the port at Piombino Marittima. Alternatively, using the “SGC Fi-Pi-Li” motorway: exit at Firenze Scandicci, take SGC Fi-Pi-Li in the direction of Pisa Livorno and follow the main road, “SS Vicarello”, take the Genova/Roma/ E76/Firenze exit, follow signs for E80 Rosignano Mm/Roma, then take the superstrada to Venturina and, thereafter, Piombino Marittima.

Arriving from the South:A12 Rome-Grosseto SS Aurelia exit Venturina-Isola d ‘Elba, continue towards Piombino Marittima.
